Approximately £1 billion of tax payers’ money is spent in the UK every year cleaning up litter. Litter is not just unsightly and expensive, it kills millions of mammals every year, too. Help us to keep Dacorum a litter-free zone by not dropping litter and putting your rubbish in the bins provided.

Litter penalties

If you're caught littering, you can be issued with a £75 fixed penalty notice. If this is not paid you could be taken to court, which could result in a maximum fine of £2,500.

If litter is thrown from a vehicle, the registered keeper of the vehicle will receive a fine of £150, regardless of if it was them or a passenger who threw the rubbish. Find out more about our campaign to stop people littering from vehicles.

Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of items - this is a serious offence which can result in an unlimited fine. Our dedicated fly-tipping page provides more information on this.

If you see anyone littering or fly-tipping, please report it to us.
