Where a neighbourhood plan is being developed in a non-parished area (like Hemel Hempstead), a neighbourhood forum has to be created. A forum is a group of at least 21 members of the community, who live, work or are elected representatives of the local area.
To apply to become a Neighbourhood Forum, an application must be made to Dacorum Borough Council. Once the application is approved, the group becomes a 'statutory body' that the local planning authority must consult when there are planning applications affecting the area covered by the Neighbourhood Plan.
More information about neighbourhood forums is available on the Legislation website.
Consultation to designate a Neighbourhood Forum
We received a forum application on 2 November and consulted from 20 November until 3 January 2014, the application included:
- a map showing the approved designated Neighbourhood Plan Area. It does not contain any land that is covered by a Parish Council;
- a statement of how the group making the application can meet the requirements to become a 'qualifying body';
- contact details for the applicant.
Neighbourhood Forum application approved
We are very pleased to report that at our Cabinet meeting on 11 February 2014, the Council approved Grovehill Future's Neighbourhood Forum application and in line with paragraph 10 of the Regulations, we now publish the following on our web site:
