You can still give your views on how routes for cycling and walking in Dacorum can be improved by taking part in a consultation, which is open until 11.59pm next Monday (26 February 2024).

The Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) is being compiled by Hertfordshire County Council, in partnership with ourselves. Find out more and leave your comments now.

The LCWIP aims to make walking and cycling more attractive choices than driving for shorter journeys or part of longer journeys. To ensure everyone's needs are met in the plan, it is important that residents, businesses, community groups and visitors all give their views.

You can help identify the key cycling and walking routes in the borough which require improvements over the next 10 years. Funding for this will be sought from Government and other sources. Potential future enhancements include new or improved crossings, footway improvements, junction upgrades and traffic-calming measures.

Once this initial consultation ends, we will consider your feedback while drawing up the final draft LCWIP. You will have the opportunity to comment on this later this year when a further public consultation is held.

Cllr Adrian England, our Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Deputy Leader, said: “What you get out partly depends on what you put in - between now and 26 February.

“This consultation, and plan, is about local infrastructure for making more short trips by foot or in the saddle – because of the space that will release on roads, for those who really need their cars.

“The ideas in this plan will decide where our share of investment could join up cycling and walking routes in Dacorum, and where changes will most benefit Dacorum residents.

“I would like to thank everyone who has got involved so far, as every comment we receive will help to make sure that the most effective Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan can be put in place.

“Tackling climate change is one of our administration’s priorities - it’s really about making life feel better, supporting healthy choices and making best use of the space we have.”
