Coronavirus (COVID-19) - financial support for businesses
Updated 2 December 2020
The Government has provided a package of measures to support businesses during the period of disruption caused by coronavirus (COVID-19). For more details, please visit the Government website.
Grant funding for businesses
The Government is using local councils to pay grants to businesses in line with schemes they have set up.
Financial support during the national lockdown (5 November to 1 December 2020)
Grants are available for businesses that have been ordered to close as part of the national restrictions. Find out more about the financial support available during the national lockdown
Financial support after the national lockdown ends (from 2 December 2020) - based on local COVID alert level
The Government has announced support for businesses affected by restrictions in areas that are in local COVID alert level Tier 2 (High) or Tier 3 (Very High).
From 2 December 2020, Dacorum is in Tier 2 (High alert). This means that funding will be made available for businesses that have to remain closed, and there will also be support available for some businesses that can remain open but are impacted by the restrictions.
We are still waiting for information from the Government about the level of funding that will be available, and we then need to work out which businesses will be eligible. We will update this page when we have more information.
Small business support grants and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure support grants
These schemes have now closed. We have paid out £26 million in grants to eligible business rate payers, for more than 1,900 properties in Dacorum under these schemes.
Local Authority discretionary business grants
This scheme has now closed. We have paid out £1.4 million in grants to 190 businesses under this scheme.
