The OVO Energy Tour of Britain starts on Sunday (3 September) and the penultimate stage will be starting in Hemel Hempstead on Saturday 9 September.
Riders have now been confirmed and Hemel will be welcoming 10-time stage winner Mark Cavendish (pictured), who will be leading Team Dimension Data, as he makes his comeback from injury after fracturing his shoulder blade on Stage Four of this year's Tour de France.
We're also pleased to see Rory Townsend, who will be making his debut in the tour for team BIKE Channel Canyon. Rory recently visited local young cyclists at the Dacorum Cycle Hub.
Welshman Geraint Thomas, who wore the Yellow Jersey at this year’s Tour de France following a stunning victory in the opening time trial, will also be visiting Dacorum as part of Team Sky’s six-man squad.
We're hosting the tour in Hemel Hempstead town centre from 9am on Saturday 9 September. Spectators will get the chance to see cyclists prepare for the race, pre-race media interviews and the race start on Waterhouse Street at 10.30am.
There will be plenty going on in the town centre to keep everyone entertained. Bicycle stunt team 3sixty will be performing stunning tricks in Bridge Street throughout the morning, and local basketball team Hemel Storm will be meeting fans and running basketball competitions before their first game of the season on Saturday night. Winners of the ‘decorate a bike’ competition will also be announced on stage before the race.
The entire Tour of Britain is also being shown live on ITV4, so remember to set your TV to record so you can spot your face in the crowd when you get home later.
