Dacorum’s Den – the business grant scheme based on the popular TV show – is back for 2017.
Now in its sixth year, it gives budding local entrepreneurs the chance to apply for up to £1,000 to grow and develop a business idea.
If you are looking to start a business or are a Dacorum based business with fewer than 20 employees and an annual turnover of less than £1 million, you are eligible to apply.
Organised by Dacorum Borough Council, and supported by local sponsors including Abode Bed, Gyron, Haspineall Collins, JE2 and McDonald’s, the scheme opens on 31 March with a workshop from 10am at The Forum in Hemel Hempstead. Hear about past success stories, meet the judges and learn how best to make the perfect pitch.
Councillor Graham Sutton, Portfolio Holder for Dacorum Borough Council, says: “Dacorum’s Den can open the door if you’re starting a new business, developing a new product or service, investing in new equipment or expanding into a new market. Deliver the perfect pitch, and the judges can award you up to £1,000 to help you on your way.”
Over the last five years Dacorum’s Den has awarded £50,000 to Dacorum businesses and created 33 jobs within the borough.
Last year’s grant winners included Spirit of the Old Town, which offers historical costumed tours around Hemel Hempstead, and Sherry Hostler Cake Artistry, a new cake business opening in Tring.
All businesses applying will receive business support from the our Enterprise and Investment Team.
The deadline for applications is 19 May 2017. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to put their ideas before a panel of judges, led by Mike Penning MP, on 7 July 2017.
